Description

The AAL 81 lounge chair by HAY is the low-back, swivel-base member of the About A Lounge series, pairing a soft, sculpted shell with a light four-leg star swivel base for a relaxed yet contemporary silhouette. The low back gives the chair a lighter feel, emphasised by the low swivel base, making it well suited to lounges, reception areas, hospitality settings and work spaces.

The shell is moulded polyurethane foam over an internal steel construction, fully upholstered in a wide choice of fabrics and leathers from the collection. The four-leg star swivel base is offered in polished or black finishes, and an optional seat cushion mounts with Velcro for easy removal. Its understated design integrates easily as a standalone piece or in grouped seating arrangements.

Designed by Danish designer Hee Welling, who founded his Copenhagen studio in 2003, the chair belongs to the About A Lounge series — a family of compact yet sculptural lounge chairs developed for both private and public settings.
