Description

The Dapper lounge chair by HAY, designed by Doshi Levien, represents the design duo’s distinctive fusion of industrial design, fine craftsmanship, storytelling and technology. Originally designed for use in a London university, Dapper has an extra-wide backrest for comfort and optimal elbow support for laptop work — making it as useful in focused work settings as in lounges and reception areas.

Its structural shape is formed by two moulded oak-veneered plywood shells (10mm, with 30mm foam) upholstered on the seat and back, supported by powder-coated steel legs. Dapper’s shell comes in a variety of stained and lacquered oak veneers, fabrics and leathers, with the frame available in several powder-coated steel finishes.

Doshi Levien is a London-based studio founded in 2000 by Nipa Doshi and Jonathan Levien, who met at the Royal College of Art and are internationally acclaimed for design that is both technically advanced and culturally resonant.
