Description

The Risom Stool by Jens Risom for Knoll is a compact sitting stool from the very first Knoll collection, designed in 1943 with materials that could be sourced locally and were not subject to wartime restrictions — famously including remnants of the nylon webbing used to make parachutes. The result is a piece of restrained, Scandinavian-influenced elegance that helped establish Knoll as an early American purveyor of modern design.

The low stool pairs a solid hardwood frame, in walnut or maple with a catalysed lacquer finish, with a hand-applied woven seat in 100% natural cotton or a nylon-cotton blend. Its clean geometry and natural materials make it as much a decorative object as a seat.

The Risom Stool suits reception areas, lounges and considered residential-style workspaces where warmth and provenance matter.
